Update May 2024: Marple Window Wonderland success!
This Spring Marple residents were invited by Marple based arts organisation Twisted Trees Productions to bring some joy and hope to the streets of Marple by creating and displaying their own window art in the windows of their houses. The window art was created from very simple paper materials and backlit at dusk to create a magical stained glass like effect for everyone to see and admire on an evening stroll or drive around. The theme was Spring: Hope and Joy, and Marple residents delivered this in abundance with their artwork.
We love organising art projects in the community like this and keenly advocate art for all, actively encouraging participation being for everyone, regardless of their previous creative experience. This year, the extremely talented Marple folk created some of the best window art we have seen to date and we were blown away by the very high standard. As well as taking this opportunity to thank everyone for taking part, we'd also like to say to anyone else admiring the work and interested in taking part in future art projects with us, try not to be intimidated by the high standard seen here! they really have exceeded expectations. We'd like to acknowledge Stockport MBC for their financial support for the trail and thank you here to The Marple Website for their support in spreading the word and encouraging the project. We hope you enjoyed looking at the fabulous art work, which is recorded above.

Twisted Trees Productions are artists Ami Horrocks and Melanie Cove who have been working together since 2019. They first started putting art in their windows during covid to bring some joy to the streets whilst people had little to do but go for local walks. This led to them running two very successful art trails through Romiley, and now they are spreading the creative joy to Marple.
Listen to Ami and Melanie explain the project...
Ami and Melanie are looking for homes, community groups and businesses in Marple to take part!
Nearer the trail time, they would love the wider population of Stockport to come to Marple to see the trail. There will be a digital map to help people find the windows and they are partnering with Marple College students to create this!
The theme is Spring, Growth and Hope and they want people to respond in their own way. FREE drop in workshop dates are on their website and Facebook, but you don’t have to attend one to take part.
How it works...
To make the window art, we use tracing paper as a background onto which coloured paper is stuck down to make the design. The tracing paper is lit up by the lights in the room, making the artwork shine, whilst keeping the room private.
