The Marple Website has operated an online community calendar for over 25 years!
From February 2002 until June 2025 it was hosted on a forum platform called SMF. Before that, and now lost in the mists of time, were Ikonboard and Discus. In recent years SMF has become difficult to manage and has never been very mobile-friendly.
Now integrated within the main website
I've been contemplating how to fully integrate the Community Calendar within the main website for a long time and in April 2025 I began searching for a software component to help me to do that. In May I decided to trial an extension called JCal Pro, which is provided by Joomlashack, a company who've been doing this since 2005 and have a great reputation for their support to users.
The new calendar went "live" in June 2025
Over the coming days and weeks this page will be expanded to help users find their way around and explain how to submit events.
