On Saturday Aug 16th the Marple Poppy Appeal Team will be laying a wreath at the war memorial in Marple Memorial Park to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day (which is actually 15th August).
This will take place at 11am and Andy Liles, of Marple Band, will play the last post.
VJ Day (Victory in Japan) was the final end to WW2 and although a day of celebration, we thought it fitting to lay a wreath in Remembrance of all those who gave their lives during that war.
People are welcome to attend if they wish.
