Can you help save the Jubilee Methodist Church Building for Community Use?

The MMMC Neighbourhood Plan (covering Mellor, Marple Bridge, Mill Brow and Compstall) used its powers to get the Jubilee Church registered as an Asset of Community Value. The advantage of this measure is that if the owners wish to sell we can ask for a six month moratorium on the sale to allow the community chance to put forward a bid. It's worth clarifying this does not stop the owners from advertising the building for sale. We have been discussing a potential community use with the owners, the Methodist Church, for some while. What is needed now is, primarily an articulated plan as to how the building will be used alongside a means of raising funds to cover the ongoing costs, and then the means of raising the necessary capital to purchase the church. The response to our Facebook appeals on this were positive and supportive for which we are grateful. However very few people indicated they would be in a position to actively help with the next steps. The meeting that we are holding at 7:00 PM on Monday the 30th of June at the Church will aim to put together a small team of people who are prepared to take this forward.
