When lock-down started last March, I suspect none of us anticipated that we should still be living in this new “normal”. It looks as if it could still go on and on for many months.

Bob Lord entertaining his friendsWe are continuing our weekly Zoom meetings and have had one or two speakers. Recently a member of the Rotary Club of Marple in the USA gave us a talk. The speaker (Paul) had been President in the same year as our member Chris Farnsworth and they had kept in touch.

We received sad news at the end of August that Bob Lord (seen left entertaining his friends) had passed away. Bob always brought sunshine into the room when he entered. He was the person who always asked “how are you” and never complained himself. A true Rotarian and a good friend who will be sadly missed by all of us. Our condolences, love and support go to his wife and family.

Arthur Bradley took over as our new President at the beginning of July. We wish him a successful year although he will have different challenges from other Presidents if the pandemic continues!

Stay safe – we have much to be thankful for.
